Decree No. 8.892 creating the National Commission for the Sustainable Development Objectives.

This Decree, consisting of 14 articles, creates the National Commission for the Sustainable Development Objectives with the purpose of internalizing, diffusing and giving transparency to the implementation process of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development of the United Nations, endorsed by the Federate Republic of Brazil. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned National Commission, as an advisory collegiate body, under the Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. This National Commission for the Sustainable Development Objectives is responsible for the following sectors: elaborate an action plan for the implementation of Agenda 2030; propose strategies, instruments, actions and programmes for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Objectives (ODS); monitor the development of ODS and prepare periodic reports; organize subsidies for discussions on sustainable development in national and international fora; identify, systematize and disseminate good practices and initiatives that contribute to the achievement of ODS; and promote the articulation with public organs and entities of the Federate units for the dissemination and implementation of the ODS at the state, district and municipal levels.
