Abstract
This Decree, consisting of 16 articles, establishes the annual compulsory targets for greenhouse gas emission reduction related to fuel trade, dealt with in art. 6 of Law 13.576 and creates the National Biofuels Policy Committee (Comité RenovaBio). Its goals will be defined by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), for a minimum period of ten years. The Decree aima at performing the following activities: improve the carbon use in the Brazilian fuel; reduce greenhouse gas emissions assumed by the country and the sectoral actions under international commitments; control the availability of biofuels by producers and importers holding the Certificate of Efficient Production of Biofuels; valorize energy resources, the evolution of national consumption of fuels and imports; protect consumer interests in relation to the price, quality and supply of fuels; and the impact of fuel prices on inflation indices.
Entry into force notes
This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
