This Law establishes the State Policy for Promoting the Generation and Use of Solar and Wind Energy in the State of Paraíba, with the main objective of incentivise the transition to cleaner and renewable energy sources while rationalizing electricity consumption. It aims to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources by encouraging investments in solar and wind energy systems, including photovoltaic and thermal solar technologies, for self-consumption in public and private, residential, commercial, industrial, and community-based facilities. The policy also seeks to mitigate environmental impacts, diversify the state’s energy matrix, and improve the reliability and security of energy supply. In addition, the law pursues economic and social objectives by fostering job creation, income generation, and regional development through the expansion of the renewable energy production chain. It promotes technological innovation, research and development, professional training, and the strengthening of local industries and service providers linked to solar and wind energy. Through incentives, technical support, partnerships, and educational actions, the law supports sustainable development, encourages energy efficiency, and facilitates broader access to renewable energy, including initiatives targeting low-income populations and reductions in public energy expenditures.
