Law No. 10.984 creating the State Policy Supporting the Family Farming Cooperatives.

This Law, consisting of 28 articles creates the State Policy Supporting the Family Farming Cooperatives. This State Policy aims at implementing the Direct and Indirect Administrations activities and the private sector that will directly and indirectly benefit the cooperative sector in the promotion of social, economic and cultural development, according to Law No. 11.326 of 24 July 2006. The State Policy is based on the following principles and guidelines: prevalence of emancipatory actions; perpetuation of cooperative actions; progressive regularization of cooperative societies; articulation of the actions between the different organs and institutions of the Direct and Indirect Public Administration. Cooperatives based in the State of Maranhão and their respective partners are beneficiaries of the State Policy.
The objectives of this State Policy aim to: support technically and operationally family farming cooperatives in Maranhão, promoting operational partnerships for the development of the cooperative system; economically and culturally stimulate the form of social organization through family farmers cooperatives, based on the general principles of cooperativism; stimulate the inclusion of the cooperative research in schools, aiming at a change of parameters of production and consumption; promote studies and research in order to contribute to the development of the cooperative activity; disclose government policies for this sector; organize and maintain an updated General Register of State Family Farmers Cooperatives; provide capacity building for family farmer cooperatives; stimulate the collection and availability of financial resources to support actions of this Policy; create a policy that makes possible the self-support of cooperativism aimed at family farmers.
