Abstract
This Law, consisting of 19 articles, establishes the requirement for prior inspection and surveillance on animal products, produced within the state of Bahia and destined to human consumption, based on art. 23, item II, combined with the art. 24, sections V, VIII and XII of the Constitution, and in accordance with the Federal Law No. 1.283 of 18 December 1950 and No. 7.889 of 23 November 1989. The inspection and enforcement of this law covers the industrial and sanitary aspects of animal products, edible or not, through the "ante and post mortem" inspection of animals destined to slaughtering, as well as the receipt, handling, fractionation, processing, manufacturing, preservation, labelling and packaging, storage, and transit of products of animal origin within the State of Bahia. The products subject to inspection, reinspection and supervision provided for in this Law are: animals for slaughtering, their products, by-products and raw materials; fish and their derivatives; milk and its derivatives; the eggs and their derivatives; the products of bees and their derivatives.
