Law No. 13.668 amending Law No. 11.516 on the allocation and application of environmental compensation resources and on the hiring of personnel for a fixed period of time by the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation.

This Law amends the following: Law No. 11.516, Law No. 7,957 and Law No. 9.985, to provide for the allocation and application of environmental compensation resources and the contracting of (IBAMA) and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation. Amendments deal with administrative and legal proceedings, in particular related to the following issues: official financial institution responsible for the direct or indirect execution and centralized management of environmental compensation resources destined to conservation units, for the indirect execution, contract with official financial institution at regional level. The amounts due as environmental compensation, pursuant to art. 36 of Law No. 9.985, will be updated by the National Extended Consumer Price Index (IPCA-E). IBAMA and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation are authorized to hire personnel for a fixed period of time in the following cases: prevention, control and combat of forest fires; control and combat of unforeseen sources of pollution that may affect human life, air and water quality, flora and fauna; support in conservation actions, management and research of threatened species; support to projects of preservation, sustainable use, protection and operational support to the management of conservation units, on an auxiliary basis; support for the identification and territorial consolidation of conservation units.
