Law No. 17.099 amending Law No. 16.171 providing for the breeding, trade and transportation of stingless bees (meliponinhas) in the State of Santa Catarina

This Law, consisting of 7 articles, amends Law No. 16.171 providing for the breeding, trade and transportation of stingless bees (meliponinhas) in the State of Santa Catarina". Amendments deal with the following sectors, establishing that: the seal of quality and guaranteed provenance may be supplied to products derived from bee-stingers, according to regulations of the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries. The commercialization of honey, pollen and propolis from bee-stingers is authorized within the territory of the State of Santa Catarina. The breeding, management, multiplication of colonies, acquisition, custody, trade, and use of tangible and intangible products obtained from meliponario are free. The labels of bee sting products must contain the toxin identification, weight, measurements and classification according to the origin of the honey, as unifloral or monofloral (from flowers of the same family) and multifloral or polyfluoral (obtained from different floral origins).
