Law No. 25.127 adding a chapter to Law No. 11.405 of 28 January 1994 on the State policy on agricultural development.

This Law No. 25.127 adding Chapter IV-A to Law No. 11.405 of 28 January 1994 establishing the State policy on agricultural development. Amended chapter specifies measures to support low-carbon agriculture, aimed at encouraging sectoral policy and governance, to be applied in agriculture, livestock and low-carbon forestry production, and for the development of low-carbon forestry production in the State. The adoption of these measures aims to: disseminate efficient practices, technologies and production systems that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and capturing carbon from the atmosphere; stimulate the continued growth of low-carbon agriculture in the State, in order to increase the resilience of agricultural production systems in the face of climate change; foster the participation, through technical training, of cooperatives, associations and entities of farmers and ranchers in the dissemination of and support for low-carbon rural activities; establish financial incentives and special credits for the implementation and development of low-carbon agriculture; assist rural producers in accessing financing programs for low-carbon agriculture; promote technical studies on low-carbon agriculture and training of rural producers and agents in the agricultural production chains; adopt tax simplification mechanisms, with a view to fostering low-carbon agriculture; prioritize project financing and the granting of scholarships to initiatives whose purpose contributes to the development of low-carbon agriculture.
