Abstract
This Law amends Law No. 18.309 of 3 August 2009 regulating water supply and sanitation services in the State of Minas Gerais and establishes the state's regulatory agency for these services. The principal objective of the amendment is to reinforce the social dimension of water and sanitation policies by revising the objectives of the regulatory framework to emphasize the expansion of access to essential services for citizens and low-income communities. More specifically, the law establishes that efforts to expand water supply and sanitation services should give special attention to low-income populations and localities, particularly in rural areas.
