Abstract
This Law amends the legal framework governing the State Policy on Sustainable Food and Nutritional Security (PESANS) in the State of Minas Gerais. Its principal objective is to strengthen food and nutritional security by adding a new guiding principle to the existing policy established under Law No. 22.806 of 2017. Specifically, the amendment promotes the use of the physical infrastructure of the public education network to provide food services during weekends and public holidays, thereby expanding access to food for vulnerable populations beyond regular school days. The law is intended to improve the effectiveness of food security policies by making greater use of existing public facilities to support food assistance initiatives. By allowing educational establishments to serve as venues for food provision on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the measure seeks to contribute to the continuous availability of food and reinforce the objectives of the State Food and Nutritional Security System. The amendment is concise and focused exclusively on enhancing access to food through public infrastructure.
