Law No. 644 creating the Agricultural and Livestock Protection Agency of the State of Roraima (ADERR).

This Law, consisting of 25 articles divided into seven Chapters and four Annexes, creates the Agricultural and Livestock Protection Agency of the State of Roraima (ADERR). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the Agency as an entity with jurisdiction in the entire State of Roraima and linked to the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (SEAPA). The purpose of ADERR is to implement the Policy on Agricultural and Livestock Protection. ADERR is responsible for: planning, coordinating and executing the Policy on Animal and Plant Health Protection; carrying out quality control, inspection, standardization and storage of products and by-products of animal and plant origin; producing agricultural inputs; guiding small producers and organizations on the benefits and instruments of the Agricultural Policy; proposing and implementing programmes aimed at the protection of animal and plant health, complying with the provisions of federal and state legislation; establishing prevention and monitoring measures; carrying out epidemiological surveillance activities for the early diagnosis of diseases and pests; proposing norms and procedures of aiming to assure animal and plant health and the sanitary quality of the products and byproducts of agricultural origin; modernizing activities of the State Agricultural and Livestock Protection System; registering producers, traders and distributors of chemotherapeutic, biological, pesticides and related products; etc.
