Norm No. 51 providing for the regulatory criteria and procedures for inspection, quality control and risk analysis systems established by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply for the importation of animals, vegetables, products, derivatives and parts, by-products, waste of economic value and specific agricultural inputs.

This Norm, consisting of 20 articles and one Annex, provides for the regulatory criteria and procedures for inspection, quality control and risk analysis systems established by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply for the importation of animals, vegetables, products, derivatives and parts, by-products, waste of economic value and specific agricultural inputs. The Norm establishes that the importation of such products, economic value residues and agricultural inputs (included in the Annex) shall comply with the regulatory criteria and procedures for inspection, quality control and analysis systems established by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). In addition, for the purposes of sanitary, phytosanitary, animal health and quality control, the importation of agricultural products, when subject to import licensing in SISCOMEX, shall only be authorized in accordance with specific procedures specified in the Annex on Agricultural Products and Inputs under the consent of MAPA.
