Order No. 177 approving the Regulation governing the Interministerial Committee of the National Solid Waste Policy.

This Decree approves the Regulation governing the Interministerial Committee of the National Solid Waste Policy. This Regulation, consisting of 20 articles divided into three Chapters, establishes the composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Interministerial Committee (established by Decree No. 7.404 of 23 December 2010) entitled to support the implementation of the National Policy on Solid Waste, through the articulation of government agencies and entities. This Committee is responsible for: instituting the procedures for the preparation of the National Solid Waste Plan; preparing and evaluating the implementation of the National Solid Waste Plan; defining the complementary information to the Plan of Management of Hazardous Solid Waste; promoting studies and propose measures for recyclable and reusable products; promoting studies aiming at the creation, modification and extinction of conditions for the use of financing or credit lines of federal financial institutions; formulating a strategy for the promotion and diffusion of clean technologies for solid waste management and management; encouraging research and development in recycling activities, etc.
