Abstract
These Rules regulate the fishing for marine products (as defined in rule 2) and the processing and trade of such products.
They are divided into 13 Parts: Prohibitions (I); Crawfish (II); Applications for licences (III); Conch (IV); Turtle (V); Bonefish (VI); Stone crab (VII); Spearfishing (VIII); Factories for the preservation of marine products (IX); Appointment of inspectors (X); (Omitted) (XI); Disposal of seized marine products (XII); Penalties (XIII).
Section 3 requires a licence for exporting, freezing or otherwise preserving marine products. Other restrictions here introduced concern the size of fish (rule 4), use of seine nets (5), use of poison (6), fishing in harbours (7 and 8). No person shall catch crawfish in specified periods of each year or catch, kill, sell, expose for sale etc. undersized crawfish. Other provisions of Part II place further restrictions of the taking or sale of crawfish. Rule 16 of Part III provides for Exporter general Licences, Canners Licences, and Exporter Bulk Licences which shall be issued subject to conditions outlined in rule 17. The Minister may designate fishing areas under rule 19. Part VIII prohibits spear fishing in specified areas and taking of marine products other than fish or crawfish in specified areas. Rule 35 concerns inspection of factories for the preservation of marine products. (completed by one Schedule containing forms of licences)
