Abstract
This Act makes provision for the control of ports and provides rules relative to the administration and operation of ports and related matters.
The Minister shall appoint a Port Controller and Deputy Port Controllers in the Port Department and the Governor-General may declare port areas for purposes of this Act and appoint port authorities for such areas. The Act sets out powers and duties of the Port Controller, port authorities and harbour masters. The Act further sets out rules relative to port activities including pilotage.

An Act to provide for the constitution and appointment of port authorities for New Providence and the Out Islands whereby the various ports and harbours of The Bahamas and the pilots and pilotage thereof and therein may be better regulated and controlled.
