Abstract
These Seed Rules and Regulations aim to administer the Seeds Act of Bhutan, 2000 and implement the provisions contained therein. The Text Consists of 10 Sections.
Section 3 provides for the establishment of National Seed Board (NSB) and Variety Release Committee (VRC), including their membership and functions, and procedures for notification of varieties. Section 4 provides for requirements for seeds sale. According to Section 4, import of seeds will require a permit. Import of genetically modified seeds has to comply with the National Regulatory Framework on Biosafety. Export of seeds will require a phytosanitary certificate. The Seed Rules and Regulations further provide for seed certification requrements and procedures, measures to be taken for seed inspection, and offencec and penalties, etc.
