Abstract
These Regulations provide for inspection of export slaughterhouses and introduce a system of identification of cattle for purposes of the Diseases of Animals Act.
The Director of Animal Health and Production or any veterinary officer may inspect export slaughterhouses so as to ensure that meat hygiene at the slaughterhouse conforms to best practice and to control livestock identification and trace-back records. No person shall submit any animal to any export slaughterhouse unless such person has obtained a permit from the Director in accordance with regulation 57 of the Diseases of Stock Regulations. The Director shall maintain trace-back register and slaughterhouses shall keep records of trace-back data. Importation of animal identification devices shall be approved by the Director.
