Decision No. 28 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection from 25.05.2009 N 28 validating the Instruction on the procedure for carrying out of primary survey of grounds.

This Instruction defines the procedure for collecting information on the presence, distribution, species composition, condition and use of wild fauna species. The primary survey of grounds is carried out by the National Academy of Sciences in accordance with the plans for the primary survey of grounds. The plans are developed and approved annually by the National Academy of Sciences in agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. The plans define the areas in which the primary survey of grounds will be carried out, the timing of its implementation, and the responsible executors. The primary survey of grounds is carried out in the following fields: (a) wild animals related to species included in the Red Book of endangered species of the Republic of Belarus; (b) wild animals covered by international treaties of the Republic of Belarus; (c) wild animals related to hunting species (game); (d) wild animals related to fishery objects; and (e) wild animals not related to hunting and fishery objects. The primary survey of grounds includes: (a) preparatory stage; (b) field research; and (c) final stage. Inventory method includes: (a) field research; (b) registration; (c) hand picking; (d) visual method; and (e) on the spot registration. Annex 1 contains the form of Reference of primary survey of grounds during a given period. It contains reference to systematic list of wild fauna species in identified habitats and their conservation status, in particular those covered by CITES Convention and other international agreements.
