Decree No. 16 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food validating Veterinary and Sanitary Regulation on combating Gasterophilus infestation of horses.

This Decree establishes requirements for diagnostics, medicinal and preventive arrangements for prophylaxis and liquidation of Gasterophilus infestation of horses. It shall be mandatory on the whole national territory. The following arrangements shall be applied in order to prevent the disease: (a) grazing of infected horses; (b) transportation of ill equine animals without prior treatment with special means against Gasterophilidae; and (c) re-grouping of horses inside farm without veterinary expert’s consent. Grazing of incoming horses without prior treatment by drugs thus killing bot.
