Abstract
Veterinary and Sanitary Regulation on prophylaxis, diagnostics and liquidation of Visna-Maedi of sheep establishes mandatory requirements for legal entities, natural persons and individual entrepreneurs related to safety of works and services related to keeping, growing, breeding, transportation, trade and slaughtering of animals and is aimed at prophylaxis, diagnostics and liquidation of Visna-Maedi of sheep. The following activities shall be prohibited in herds infected with Visna-Maedi of sheep: (a) hemotherapy, collection of blood and colostral milk for veterinary and medical purposes, production of therapeutic and prophylactic drugs; (b) breeding to reproduce lambs of the last lambing from animals, infected with Visna-Maedi sheep virus; lambs must be isolated from infected sheep and must be transferred for feeding with milk and colostral milk of healthy sheep and cows; (c) the use of colostral milk of infected sheep for feeding of lambs; (d) milking in the same milking parlor by the same milking machines for infected and healthy animals; (e) joint grazing of infected and healthy animals; (f) insemination of infected sheep to reproduce the herd; (g) removal of sperm, embryos; (h) sale of sheep of all ages, except for slaughter in the organization, that slaughter animals and process meat; (i) using non-sterile tools and equipment; (j) delivery to organizations processing meat, animals without a stamp in the veterinary documents on the results of the latest serological study on Visna-Maedi of sheep.
