Law No. 340-Z “On sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population.”

The scope of this Law is to establish legal and organizational grounds for the prevention of unfavourable impact on human health of environmental factors of living environment for the purpose of ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. This Law shall ensure application of sanitary and hygienic requirements for food quality and food safety control of foodstuffs, alimentary raw materials, and food additives. Sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population shall be the state of health of the population, the human environment, in which there is no harmful impact on the human organism of the factors of its habitat and favorable conditions for its vital activity are ensured. It establishes powers of state bodies in the field of ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. This Law consists of VIII Chapters divided into 43 Articles. Chapter I lays down general provisions. Chapter II establishes state regulation in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. Chapter III regards organization of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. Chapter IV regards organization and application of sanitary and anti-epidemic arrangements. Chapter V establishes rights and duties of citizens of the Republic of Belarus, foreign citizens and stateless persons, organizations and individual entrepreneurs in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. Chapter VI regards application of state sanitary supervision, establishes the rights of chief sanitary inspectors and the procedure for the appointment thereof. Chapter VII regards departmental control in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. Chapter VIII lays down final provisions.
