Abstract
The State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora is a specially authorized state body subordinate to the President of the Republic of Belarus, exercising state control over: (a) the protection and use of wild animals related to hunting and fishing species, land under wild-growing woody and shrubby vegetation (plantings), woody and shrubby vegetation not included in the forest fund, except for woody and shrubby vegetation within the boundaries of populated areas and included in the Red Book of endangered species of the Republic of Belarus; (b) the protection, conservation, reproduction and use of the forest fund; (c) the management of fishing industry and fisheries; and (d) the management of hunting industry and hunting. General management and control over the activities of the State Inspectorate is carried out by the President of the Republic of Belarus. The main task of the State Inspectorate is to implement state control within the limits of its competence. Officials of the State Inspectorate, when carrying out the tasks and functions assigned to it, have the right to use physical force, special means, and to use weapons if it is not possible to carry out these tasks and functions by other means.
