Abstract
These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Forests Act [Chapter 213] to provide for protection of mangroves for the benefit of the coastal and marine ecosystems. Part I of the Regulations provide for short title and definitions. Part II prohibits altering any mangrove without obtaining a permit. It provides for the procedure to obtain such permission and the conditions for grant of such permission. Part III contains provisions for appointment of review panel to make recommendations in respect of permit applications in certain cases. Part IV lays down the offences and penalties. Part V allows for review of the decision of the issuing authority or the Review Panel.
