Abstract
This Act makes amendments in the principal Act by inserting the definitions of General Manager of the National Health Insurance (NHI) Scheme and open tendering procedure in Section 69 of the principal Act; repealing subsection (2) of Section 70 of the principal Act as regards the appointment of Chief Executive Officer of the NHI Scheme; inserting Section 70A on the appointment of a General Manager to be responsible for the management of the NHI Scheme; amending Section 75 regarding the members of the NHI Committee.

An Act to amend the Social Security Act, Chapter 44 of the Substantive Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2020; to allow for the retroactive appointment of a General Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme and a Chair of the National Health Insurance Committee; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Entry into force notes
This Act shall take effect retroactively from (i) in relation to sections 2, 3, 4 and 5(b), (c) and (d) from 1 September 2007, and (ii) in relation to section 5(a) from 7 June 2008.
