Abstract
These Regulations make provision for the procedure for the declaration of standards, for recommendation of standards to the Minister, for modification of standards or withdrawal, and for appointment by the Bureau of Standards of technical committees. These Committees shall assist the Bureau in the preparation, formulation, adaptation or adoption of specifications intended to be declared as standards (reg. 3). The Bureau shall propose specifications to the Standards Council by notice to be published in the Gazette. Comments on the specification proposed to be declared a standard shall be reviewed by the Bureau (reg. 4). The Standards Council declares a standard and may recommend to the Minister that a standard shall be declared compulsorily in accordance with regulation 5. Where the Minister does not accept the recommendation, the standard may continue to be used on a voluntary basis (reg. 6). The same procedure shall be followed for the modification or withdrawal of standards. (8 regulations)
