Abstract
The present Act lays down provisions relating to the collective nature of water resources and to increased water resource protection. Section 1 establishes that the costs related to water resource use, including protection, restoration, improvement and management costs, are to be borne by users under the conditions defined by law and on the basis of environmental, social and economic consequences and the polluter pays principle. The text consists of 41 sections divided into 9 Parts as follows: Water, a collective resource (I); Principles (II); Action for damage to water resources (III); Water governance (IV); Bureau des connaissances sur l eau (V); Amending provisions (VI); Repealing provisions (VII); Transitional provisions (VIII); Final provisions (IX).
