Abstract
The present Regulation is made under the Environment Quality Act. The object of the Regulation is to set the terms and conditions for authorizations for the withdrawal of water, as provided for in section 31.75 of the afore-mentioned Act Act, and to prescribe certain standards for water withdrawals, water withdrawal facilities and facilities or activities that may affect the quality of water withdrawn in the vicinity. It ensures, in particular, the protection of water withdrawn for human consumption or food processing purposes. The text consists of 108 sections divided into 9 Chapters as follows: Application (I); Authorization for water withdrawals (II); Water withdrawal facilities (III); Geothermal systems (IV); Drilling site used to explore for or produce petroleum, natural gas or brine, or to explore for or operate an underground reservoir (V); Protection given to the water withdrawn for human consumption or food processing purposes (VI); Special provisions applicable to Ville de Mercier and other close territories (VII); Administrative provisions and sanctions (VIII); Transitional and final provisions (IX). Five Schedules are enclosed.
