Abstract
The present Regulations enact the Natural Products Act. The Regulations lay down provisions relating to the Plan concerning the marketing of cattle. The primary objectives of the Plan are to promote and regulate the marketing of beef, beef products and beef cattle in the regulated area, and in particular to: a) constitute the Commodity Board to administer the Plan; b) stimulate, increase and improve the research, promotion and market development of beef, beef products and beef cattle in the regulated area; c) assist in the maintenance of public health and food safety by tracking the whereabouts and origin of beef cattle through registration; and d) provide for levies to enable the Board to carry out the purposes of the Plan. The text – consisting of 17 sections – deals with the following aspects: Commodity Board, Powers of the Commodity Board, Regulation-making powers, Commodity Board membership, officers and committees.
