Abstract
The present Regulation is made under the Mines and Minerals Act. In particular, the Regulation establishes two royalty regimes: 1) The royalty rate for Crown-owned Subbituminous (Plains) coal, used mainly to generate electricity; 2) The royalty rate for Crown-owned Bituminous Mountain/Foothills) coal, which is based on a revenue minus costs royalty regime. The text consists of 12 sections and 2 Schedules.

The present Regulation expires on 30 June 2020.

With amendments up to and including Alberta Regulation 197/2015.The Coal Royalty Regulations (Alta. Reg. 193/76) are repealed.
