Abstract
The purposes of the present Act are: a) to protect, conserve and, where reasonable, restore the integrity of the environment; b) to provide sustainability of the environment; and c) to protect the right to a healthful environment. In particular, it aims at: a) the prevention, reduction and elimination of the use, generation and release of pollutants that are an unreasonable threat to the integrity of the environment; b) the protection and conservation of biological, ecological and genetic diversity; c) the protection and conservation of natural resources, including plant life, animal life and ecological systems; d) the encouragement of the wise management of our natural resources, including plant life, animal life and ecological systems. The Act consists of 121 articles divided into 8 Parts as follows: Definitions and purposese (I); Public participation in government decision-making general (II); The Environmental Commission (III); Application for review (IV); Application for investigation (V); Right to sue (VI); Employer reprisals (VII); General (VIII).
