Abstract
This Act regulates the keeping and reproduction of livestock. Livestock is defined as "cattle, goats, horses, sheep, swine and game (defined in the Game Farm Act as fallow deer, bison and reindeer) and any other animal designated by regulation" (sect. 1). Livestock districts, bull control areas and pound districts may be established on demand by grazers or on recommendation of the "director" (administrator appointed by the relevant minister) (sects. 3 and 4). The operation of artificial insemination centres is subject to licence (sect. 12), which will be issued by the director if he/she is satisfied that the applicant (a) has sufficient knowledge of artificial insemination techniques and of semen collection from livestock, and (b) will be able to meet the standards established by regulation (sect. 14). Section 19 lists offences which include allowing livestock to be at large, capturing or impounding livestock contrary to this Act, freeing or otherwise interfering with captured or impounded livestock. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations on various matters as listed in section 20.
