Abstract
The present Regulation lays down provisions relating to meat. At the outset the text contains a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein, such as “animal food”, “ante mortem inspection”, “bulk container”, “carcass”, “component”, “consumer”, “container”, “contaminated”, “food contact surface”, “freestanding meat plant”, “hunting game animal”, “hunting game carcass”, “inedible material”. The text consists of 138 sections divided into 14 Parts as follows: Interpretation and application (I); Restrictions on sale of meat and related activities (II); Licences and information provided to director (III); Premises, facilities and equipment of meat plants (IV); Water used in meat plants (V); Operation of meat plants (VI); Personnel at meat plants (VII); Slaughter of food animals (VIII); Inedible materials (IX); Meat products - process controls (X); meat product standards (XI); Inspection legend, labelling and packaging (XII); Transportation standards (XIII); Distribution records, recall procedure and notice to the public (XIV); Administration (XIV1).
