Abstract
A major piece of legislation to organize boundaries and administration of the Northwest Territories., and in particular of aboriginal peoples. For the purpose of the present Act “Agreement” means the Northwest Territories Lands and Resources Devolution Agreement that was made on 25 June 2013. “Aboriginal party” means an Aboriginal organization that is a party to the Agreement. Section 4 establishes that a Commissioner of the Northwest Territories must be appointed by order of the governor in Council. The text – consisting of 79 sections – deals with the following issues: executive power, legislative power, consolidated Revenue Fund, public accounts, administration of justice, public lands and waters.
