Abstract
The present Regulation is made under sections 77 and 78 of the Natural Products Act. In particular, the Regulation lays down provisions relating to Canadian Organic Standards. Section 4 establishes that an organic grade is established as the grade for a farm product or a multi-ingredient product that is produced or processed by a person who has a valid organic certification for the product from a certification body. Section 5 establishes that no person shall market a farm product or multi-ingredient product as “organic”, “organically grown”, “organically produced” or “organically raised”, or using similar words, including abbreviations of, symbols for and phonetic renderings of those words, unless the product meets the requirements for the Organic Grade.
