Abstract
This Regulation enacts the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act.It is divided up into 8 Parts, Part 9 being repealed. Part 1 deals with definitions and Part 2 deals with operational plans, going into great detail with regards to forest development plans. A woodlot licence holder has to produce a forest development plan addressing the entire woodlot licence area and including the information and maps, at a scale sufficient to permit adequate assessment of the proposed operations to be carried out by the holder, such as harvesting, road construction or modification operations. This part also deals with site plans. Part 3 deals with general forest practices, and covers such topics as general wildlife measures (sec 32); restrictions on use of machinery (sec 34); and forest practices within community watersheds (sec 36). Part 4 goes into great detail with regards to Roads; their general requirements, their layout and design, their construction and modification, bridge maintenance and road deactivation. Part 5 outlines harvesting practices, whilst Part 6 describes silviculture in great detail. Part 7 highlights riparian widths and Part 8 finishes off with offences. There is also a schedule dealing with stocking requirements. It contains table A - stocking standards for silvicultural systems other than single tree selection, and table B - stocking standards for single tree selection silvicultural systems.
