Abstract
The present Law completes the Federal Law on Agriculture of 29 April 1998. The Canton shall promote an efficient and sustainable agriculture in line with market requirements. The Governing Council shall project a model based on principle of economy and ecology. In particular, the model aims at: 1) improving competition in a situation in which peasant families play a fundamental role; 2) strengthening of the principle of subsidiarity; 3) promoting a sustainable production and conservation of natural living conditions; 4) care of cultural heritage; 5) economic strengthening of the rural space. To this aim the Canton shall promote and control related projects, make available infrastructure and personnel, and grant subsidies. The text consists of 24 articles divided into 7 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Production and marketing (II); Formation and counselling (III); Animal production and animal health (IV); Plant protection (V); Implementation and federal law (VI); Transitional and final provisions (VII).
Entry into force notes
The present Law enters into force on 1 May 2001.
Notes
The present Law is consolidated as of 25 April 2007.
