Abstract
The present Law lays down provisions relating to energy. Its aim is to implement a sustainable energy policy in the Canton of Solothurn and, in particular, to promote an economic, rational and environment-friendly use of energy; a sufficient, economic and environment-friendly energy supply; to reduce the dependence from single energy sources; to promote renewable energy sources. The guidelines for the implementation of the present Law revolve around the idea of an “energy concept” and its sound use. The latter describes the present energy situation in the Canton, and deals inter alia with aims and priorities of the cantonal energy policy; the sensible use of different energy sources; general matters relating to energy policy; legal, organizational and financial measures. Also, the energy concept, takes into account related plans of the federal government, the neighbouring cantons, regions and local townships. Part II contains provisions relating to promotion measures. In cooperation with the federal government, local authorities, regions and private associations, and other cantons, the canton of Solothurn promotes the exchange of information, consultation and training related to energy issues. Cantons and townships may themselves install or have installed plants for the production, transformation, storage and diffusion of energy. The text consists of 23 articles divided into 4 Parts.
