Abstract
The present Law lays down provisions relating to the fisheries in the Canton of Solothurn. Fishing fish, crayfish, bait and other aquatic animals in the public waters and canals of the Canton of Solothurn is a sovereign right, and as such can be authorized only by the Canton. Sub-concessions are not allowed. Fishing permits are issued by the competent Department and by fishing associations. The maximum duration of a permit shall not exceed 10 years. However, there are two rivers where inhabitants of the Canton may fish freely. The competent Department provides for stock enhancement in fisheries but the expenses must be carried by the licence-holder. Only fishing gear prescribed in fisheries regulations may be used for catching. The cantonal Council establishes catching limits. The text consists of 43 articles divided into 7 chapters as follows: General provisions (I); Concession (II); Fishing activities (III); Promotion of fishing (IV); Administration and control (V); Penalties (VI).
