Abstract
The purpose of the present Act is to regulate the use of public waters, public corporate waters, public groundwater and private waters. At the outset the Act contains a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein, such as use of waters , public cantonal waters , public corporation waters , public groundwater , private waters . Article 11 establishes that every use of water is prohibited, if it jeopardizes the public interest and, in particular, the potable water supply, the water resources in a certain area, or if it affects the environment disproportionately or hinders the expedient use of waters. The present text consists of 49 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Use of waters (2); Use of hydraulic forces of cantonal waters (3); Abstraction and input of water or heat (4); Final and transitional provisions (5).
