Abstract
The Ministry of Health is established under section 3, whereas section 5 provides for the establishment of the Cook Islands Health Board. Functions of the Ministry concern preservation and promotion of health of citizens of the Cook Islands, in general; the Board, which is accountable to the Minister of Health, shall manage all institutions and services within the Ministry, investigate and assess health conditions on the Cook Islands, plan new health services, grant financial services to persons and organizations promoting health, and perform other functions set out in section 7 or assigned to it by the Minister. A Secretary of Health shall be appointed by the Board in consultation with the Minister (sect. 11). The Schedule sets out legislation administered by the Ministry, including legislation relative to food.
