Abstract
This Act continues the Ministry of Health established under section 3 of the repealed Act and provides with respect to, among other things, Administrative and operational arrangements of the Ministry and powers of the Ministry to regulate the health sector. The functions of the Ministry include responsibilities relating to, among other things, implementing laws, requirements, programs and initiatives related to public health issues affecting the health of the community and the environment (including vector control, port health and border control, water resources, food safety and nutrition, waste management, hazardous and harmful substances and practices, immunisation and disease prevention and community health services). The Ministry may also regulate health related matters concerning the sale of food, the provision of water, and sanitary conveniences and facilities in residential and commercial premises, and in public areas.
