Abstract
This Act makes provision for the protection of the environment of Rarotonga and waters of Rarotonga as defined in section 2 and for the establishment of Tu’anga Taporoporo as a body corporate and an Environment Council.
The Act consists of 65 sections divided into 8 Parts: Tu’anga Taporoporo (I); Environmental Impact Assessment (II); Environment Notices (III); Management Plans (IV); Control of Litter (V); Offences (VI); Financial Provisions (VII); Miscellaneous (VIII).
Functions of the Tu’anga Taporoporo are set out in section 6. The Council shall form part of the Tu’anga Taporoporo.
