Abstract
The amendment of the principal Act concerns the conditions for classification before registration. One condition is that the ship to be registered is currently in class with one of the classification societies contained in Schedule 1. This condition is changed so that now classification societies shall be approved for time to time by the Minister by notice published in the Official Gazette. Schedule 2 is amended with respect to compliance by registered ships with standards of international law and the law of the Cook Islands.
