Abstract
This Act provides for the creation of a Registrar and register of ships, for registration, classification, certification and marking of ships and various other matters relating to ownership and use of ships.
The Act consists of 69 sections divided into 6 Parts: Preliminary (I); Registration of ships (II); Transfers, transmissions and mortgages (III); Administration (IV); The Register of Ships (V); Miscellaneous (VI).
A Registrar of ships is appointed under section 4 who shall keep a register of ships in accordance with section 5 and following. Ships shall be classified before registration pursuant to section 12. Section 20 provides for marking of ships. Sections 23 and following concern nationality of ships and proper use of national signs and identity. Functions and powers of the Registrar are set out in section 40.
