Administrative Measures of Shandong Province for the Business Operation and Use of Special Medical Purpose Formula Food by Medical Institutions.

These Measures are formulated in accordance with the Food Safety Law, the Implementation Regulations of the Food Safety Law, the Regulations on the Management of Medical Institutions, and the Measures for the Supervision and Inspection of Food Production and Business Operation, aiming to strengthen the management of business operation of formula foods for special medical purposes, standardize the business operation and use of formula foods for special medical purposes by medical institutions.
The Measures consist of 4 Chapters: General provisions; Institutional setup and personnel management; Business operation and usage requirements; Supplementary provisions.
Medical institutions should have corresponding food business operation qualifications. Those who only sell specific complete nutritional formula foods in formula foods for special medical purposes do not need to obtain a food business license or record, but they must comply with the Food Safety Law and other laws, regulations and the requirements of these Measures.
Practicing physicians who use formulas for special medical purposes should understand the indications and contraindications, be responsible for evaluating the suitability of formulas for special medical purposes for clinical application, and use formulas for special medical purposes in accordance with the standard procedures for nutritional diagnosis and treatment.
