Administrative Measures for the Storage of Bacterial (Viral) Strains of Animal Pathogenic Microorganisms.

These Measures are enacted according to the Animal Epidemic Prevention Law of the People's Republic of China, the Regulation on the Bio-Safety Management of Pathogenic Microorganism Labs, the Regulation on the Administration of Veterinary Medicines, aiming to strengthen the storage management of bacterial (viral) strains of animal pathogenic microorganisms as well as the specimens thereof. The Measures consist of 36 Articles divided into 8 Chapters: General Provisions; Storing Institutions; Collection of Bacterial (Viral) Strains and Specimens； Storage and Supply of Bacterial (Viral) Strains and Specimens；Destruction of Bacterial (Viral) Strains and Specimens；Exchange of Bacterial (Viral) Strains and Specimens; Penalties; Supplementary Provisions.
The Ministry of Agriculture shall be responsible for the national administration of the storage of bacterial (viral) strains and specimens. The veterinary administrative departments of the local people's governments at or above the county level shall be responsible for the supervision and administration of the storage of bacterial (viral) strains within their respective administrative regions. Storage institutions shall include national storage centers and provincial storage centers. Storage institutions shall be designated by the Ministry of Agriculture. The varieties of bacterial (viral) strains stored by storage institutions shall be confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture.
