Abstract
These Provisions are formulated to strengthen the supervision over and administration of food labels, regulate food labelling activities, prevent quality related fraudulence, and safeguard rights and interests of enterprises and consumers.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine shall be responsible for the supervision and administration of food labelling throughout the whole nation.
The Provisions lay down the contents of food labels which shall specify the name of the food, place of production, name of the manufacturer, date of production and expiry date, quantity of contents, ingredients, etc.
In addition, the Provisions address how food shall be labelled and define legal liabilities.
