Announcement No. 194 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs regarding stopping production, import, business operation and use of some pharmaceutical feed additives and making adjustments to relevant management policies.

This Annoucement is issued in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Regulations on the Administration of Veterinary Drugs and the Regulations on the Administration of Feed and Feed Additives, aiming to maintain the safety of animal-derived food and public health. The the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has decided to stop production, import, business operation and use of some pharmaceutical feed additives and make adjustments to relevant management policies.
The relevant matters are announced, including: Since January 1, 2020, all kinds of growth-promoting drug feed additives except Chinese traditional medicine shall be withdrawn. The veterinary drug manufacturers shall stop production and imported veterinary drug agents shall stop importing the corresponding veterinary drug products. At the same time the corresponding veterinary drug product approval numbers and imported veterinary drug registration certificates shall be cancelled. The corresponding veterinary drug products that have been produced and imported before may be circulated until June 30, 2020. From July 1, 2020, feed manufacturers shall stop producing commercial feed containing growth-promoting drug feed additives (except traditional Chinese medicine). The commercial feed that has been produced before can be circulated and used until December 31, 2020. Before January 1, 2020, the Ministry will organize the revision of quality standards for those varieties that have both growth-promoting and prevention and control purposes, deleting the growth-promoting purpose, and only retaining the prevention and control purpose.
