Construction plan of national marine ranching demonstration zones (2017-2025).

This Plan is formulated in accordance with the China Outline of Action Plan for the Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources, the Opinions of the State Council on Promoting the Sustainable and Healthy Development of Marine Fisheries.
Marine ranching is an important means to conserve aquatic biological resources and restore the ecological environment of waters. It is also an effective measure to speed up the transformation of fisheries to restructure and promote the sustainable development of offshore fisheries.
The targets are proposed in the Plan. By 2025, 178 national marine ranching demonstration areas with strong regional representation, outstanding ecological functions, and typical demonstration functions will be created nationwide, promoting the scientific and standardized construction and management of marine ranching nationwide; artificial fish reef area of more than 50 million cubic meters will be introduced nationwide; a national marine ranch monitoring network shall be built; establish a relatively complete marine ranch construction management system and science and technology support system.
