Abstract
This Decision is formulated in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law and the Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress to Comprehensively Prohibit the Illegal Trade of Wild Animals, Break the Bad Habit of Excessive Consumption of Wild Animals, and Effectively Secure the Life and Health of the People, aiming to crack down on illegal wildlife trade, prohibit the consumption of wild animals in an all-round way, maintain biological safety and ecological safety, effectively prevent major public health risks, effectively protect the lives of the people health and safety and promote the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
The following wild animals and their products are banned: (1) All terrestrial wild animals, including artificially propagated and reared terrestrial wild animals; (2) The precious and endangered aquatic wild animals under key protection provided by laws and regulations; (3) Other wild animals prohibited from consumption by laws and regulations
No organization or individual may produce, process, or use food made from wild animals and their products that are prohibited from consumption. Due to special circumstances such as scientific research, medicinal use, display, etc., where non-edible use of wild animals is required, strict approval and quarantine inspection shall be carried out in accordance with relevant national and provincial regulations, and special signs shall be obtained and used to ensure traceability.
